Art & Nature Day
The Lake County Land Trust will be hosting its second annual “Art & Nature Day” on Saturday, May 5 from 9:00am- 3:00pm. The event, which is free to the public, will kick off with a photography walk along the Rodman Preserve’s nature trail, open to serious photographers of any age. Family-friendly activities will include a family hike, local art exhibit, yoga for kids, hand-painted tattoos, live music, plein-air stations, scavenger hunts, nature journaling, and educational nature booths. While there is no charge for admission or any of the activities, art and snacks will be available for purchase, and temporary tattoos will be donation-based. A portion of proceeds from the art sales will help support the Land Trust.

A noteworthy addition to this year’s festivities will be the display of photographs entered into the Lake County Rural Arts Initiative photography contest, open to students of all grades.  Winners of cash prizes will be announced at 1:00pm during Art & Nature Day. Visit for more information about the contest.

Getting outside has multiple powerful effects on mental and physical health. Despite these known benefits, people are losing connection with the outdoors and spending less time outside than ever before. The Lake County Land Trust encourages our residents to start a new routine, beginning May 5th by ‘taking it outside’ as a way to promote healthy mind, body, and spirit.  Art & Nature Day was instituted as a way to participate in and support “Take it Outside California”, a statewide initiative designed to connect Californians with great outdoor spaces.  Learn more at
