Sulphur Fire Benefit Concert: The Guitarsonists
2/3/2018, starts 7:00 PM

Three Masters of Blues Guitar Perform on Feb. 3 to Benefit Sulphur Fire Victims

The Guitarsonists will be rockin' the blues and putting on a fabulous dance party at the Soper Reese Theatre at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 3 – all to benefit the victims of the Sulphur Fire that occurred last October.  Proceeds go to the NCO Sulphur Fire Fund.  Among the evening’s fun and entertainment are a raffle and silent auction. Snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and wine and beer will be for sale.  More event information is on Facebook at:  Lake County Fire Recovery Benefits.

The Guitarsonists is made up of three top flight musicians including Chris Cain who brought down the house at the 2016 Blue Wing Blues Festival. His jazz-tinged, blues-soaked guitar and deep, warm vocals have the maturity and authenticity of bluesmen many years his senior. His passion and intensity are a blend of his mother's Greek ancestry and his father's soulful black heritage. One critic described Cain as having “a voice that recalls B.B. King and a thick toned Gibson guitar sound reminiscent of Albert King.”

Joining Cain is Mighty Mike Schermer, a first-call sideman for Marcia Ball, Bonnie Raitt, Elvin Bishop, and many other blues icons. Schermer is also gaining recognition and success for his singer/songwriter and guitarist solo work, and has released six of his own CDs.  Mike often plays at the Blue Wing Saloon and in September 2016, he headlined the Valley Fire Tribute Concert at Ely Stage Stop & Country Museum in Kelseyville.

Also playing is Daniel Castro, a dynamic blues singer/songwriter/guitarist with great stage presence and a guitar mastery that is obvious from the first note. He attributes his biting, blistering slide and flat-pick skills to years as a flamenco player, and his hard-edged songwriting to his experiences growing up in South Central L.A.  Daniel has been seen in Lake County at Concerts in the Park in Lakeport and at the 2016 Blue Wing Blues Festival.

The concert is A Spotlight On Production in partnership with the Soper Reese Theatre and the Time Bank of Thrive Lake County. Event sponsors at the time of publication are The Blue Wing Saloon; The Tallman Hotel; Iris Angeleri, Country Air Properties; Brad White, American Plumbing; Mark Totorica, Totorica Tile; The Rodeway Inn/Skylark Shores Resort; and Bicoastal Media (KXBX 98.3 and KNTI 99.5).  Contact Tina Lewis if interested in becoming a sponsor at SpotlightOn999@gmail.com or 707-278-7126.
