City of Lakeport, California

Redevelopment

The Redevelopment division is a subdepartment of the Lakeport Redevelopment Agency, and serves the purpose of coordinating and directing the construction of public and commercial improvements. When a buisness is built or renovated, when a street is redesigned with the needs of the public in mind, or when the infrastructure of Lakeport is transformed to better suit it's steady growth, it is likely the redevelopment division that spearheaded the effort.

Unlike the housing and economic development branches of the Redevelopment Agency, whose juristiction extends a few miles beyond the Lakeport city limits, the redevelopment division works primarily within a specific geographic region inside downtown Lakeport, called the project area. It the goal of the Redevelopment Agency to fund, direct, and supervise improvements within this comparitively small project area, which encompasses the heart of downtown lakeport. The redevelopment division of the agency draws it's funds primarily from a tax levied on businesses within the project area, so that those who stand to benefit the most from the improvements are the ones paying for them.

The Redevelopment Agency seeks to beautify and strengthen the city of Lakeport for years to come, and hes recently adopted an ambitious 5 year plan that looks to transform Main Street in the interest of efficiency and safety, while still maintaining the quaint, small town ambiance that has come to define our city.
